Russian Tiles

I have found a wonderful link to a site for Russian tiles.  Plenty of source pictures for inspiration.  After the group meeting this morning we have decided to do the same design of fireplace for both the drawing room and the study but with different tiles. 
Plain green with a repeated relief for the study and more colour in the front room.

This tile showing a harpie is a fantastic image that incorporates the subtle death imagery we were looking for in the study.  Birds were harbingers of death (I am assuming this one is a green tit!) and the juxtaposition of the female form with the birds body gives an uneasy nightmarish quality to the picture.
